First Global Nonkilling Leadership Academy Accomplished

(Honolulu, October 21, 2009) This edition of the German nonkilling newsletter was written in Hawaii where the first global “Nonkilling Leadership Academy” just ended successfully, see the opening article below. The next highlight follows straight away: on November 11, Professor Glenn Paige and his wife Glenda will be in Berlin, attending an evening on nonkilling together with guests, among them Nobel Peace Laureate Mairead Maguire from Northern Ireland and Professor Ekkehart Krippendorff. Also in this edition: a short review of the recently published book “Toward a Nonkilling Paradigm” with contributions out of 14 disciplines (ed. Joam Evans Pim), a programmatic essay entitled “Germany Does Not Kill Anymore – Or Does It? A Situation Report” as well as some suggestions for interested and engaged readers who want to participate in the nonkilling project. The Nonkilling Society - Illusion or Goal?

Mainz (August 9, 2009) - Los Angeles has online statistics on homicides now: www.latimes.com/homicidemap. With such statistics an awareness for the reality of killing can be created. Moreover, they make nonkilling measurable. This is especially important in war and conflict situations, confer e.g. www.iraqbodycount.org. The August newsletter at hand deals with the general question of whether a nonkilling society is realistic, with a focus on the peculiarities of the 21st century. The second feature presents ten people in Germany who support nonkilling in different fields. The World Congress of the International Political Science Association in Chile is another topic, and the second volume of the series "Books that Change Our World View" in the HWK publishing house: "Antisemitism and Islamophobia - A Comparative Analysis" by Sabine Schiffer und Constantin Wagner. The tip of the month is musical: Canadian songwriter Dave Carroll proved that you can get your right with peaceful means. Nonkilling Germany Launched

Mainz (June 7, 2009) - Is a nonkilling society possible? The book "Nonkilling Global Political Science" by the political scientist Professor em. Glenn Paige in Hawaii is concerned with this question. It first appeared in 2002 and is available in German now. This monthly bilingual newsletter at hand, starting with this issue, provides background information and reports about worldwide activities regarding nonkilling. In this issue: the new German center, the book translation release party, the Center for Global Nonkilling in Hawaii, the School of Nonkilling Studies, the Nonkilling Art Festival, and Petra Kelly research. The tip of the month is about an intelligent and entertaining audio of Sir Ken Robinson's.
